Overview
How Botox and Dysport work
Botox and Dysport are neuromodulators: purified proteins that temporarily relax the muscles that crease the skin. Lines caused by expression, such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet, soften when the muscle underneath relaxes. Both have been used for decades and are FDA-approved for cosmetic use.
The result depends on the injector's knowledge of facial anatomy. Too much product, or product in the wrong place, is what causes a frozen or heavy look. Dr. Riemenschneider performs every treatment herself, studies how your face moves and tailors the dose and placement to you.
When to consider treatment
Lines between your brows or across your forehead stay visible when your face is at rest
You notice crow's feet when you smile
You want to slow the deepening of expression lines
You want a subtle change with no downtime

Treatment
What treatment involves
Treatment is quick, uses a very fine needle and needs no downtime. Most people return to work or errands right away.
Consultation. Dr. Riemenschneider talks through your goals, watches your face at rest and in motion, and reviews your medical history.
Treatment. A series of small injections into the muscles being treated. Most people describe each one as a quick pinch.
Results. Softening begins within a few days, and the full effect shows at about two weeks.
Upkeep. Results last about three to four months, and repeat treatments maintain them.
